To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, two pharmacists discuss their careers and the biases that must be broken to ensure women can succeed.

While reported cases of influenza are significantly higher than what they were this time last year, vaccination rates are slipping.

While PSA welcomed Monday’s announcement for free flu vaccines for Queenslanders aged 5–65, pharmacists on the ground have voiced their frustration that there was no warning or time to prepare ahead of the program rollout.

The rollout of the influenza vaccine has begun, with some pharmacy groups having received stock and beginning to administer the vaccine to patients. 

Pharmacists have been hamstrung by conflicting federal and state legislation while battling to provide the best possible care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With cases of RSV spiking in 2024, the federal government announced free vaccination would be offered to eligible pregnant people and babies.
